In a documentary from Geoff Keighley, executive producer of GameTrailers TV, it was revealed that Titanfall was originally built on the same engine used to power the Ratchet & Clank games. The founder of Insomniac Games, Ted Price, had actually struck a deal with the Respawn team that would allow them to use the engine to build the game for free.
Obviously Respawn went another direction and wound up making their own engine for Titanfall but it’s still pretty interesting that early builds of the game were created on the Ratchet & Clank tech.

Gotta say I’m rather glad Respawn took it upon themselves to build something from the ground rather than using this other engine. The game looks very odd and ugly using the Ratchet & Clank version, at least based on the screenshot provided. It just looks very dated and cheesy.
